Immaculée-Conception

Historique

The Immaculée-Conception church was built between 1895 and 1898, designed by architects Georges-Émile Tanguay and Napoléon-Alfred Vallée. It was preceded by a Sacred Heart chapel, blessed by Bishop Fabre in 1889. A carillon was installed in the bell tower in 1920. The first Montreal branch of the Caisse populaire Desjardins was founded nearby, at the corner of Rachel and Bordeaux streets, in 1909.
